Dixie is from 12 miles S.E.
of Effingham. She is a self-taught multi-media artist. She primarily
works in watercolor on Yupo Paper. Yupo is a very slick commercial
paper used in making menus, banners and now art. Dixie has been
teaching her unique technique for the past three years. She has been
showing her Yupo Art throughout out
Central Illinois at
competitions and art fairs. They have been very well accepted. She has
won best of show at Paris
Bi-Centennial's Show with her Yupo work. She has shown her work for the
past three years at the
juried ART and Craft Fair at Cedarhurst and last year she was
invited to show at the juried show at Rend Lake. She has work in
Canada, California,
Champaign, Chicago,
Bloomington, and Sparta. She has had, for two years, a one woman show
at the Misselhorn Museum at
Sparta, IL. She
has had a two woman show at
Lakeland College
for two years. Her work is currently in a one woman show at Joe Sippers
Cafe at Effingham, IL.
Dixie is very active in the arts being the present president of the
Effingham Art Guild and also President and founder of the Associated
Artists of Central IL. She is on the board of the
Southern IL.
Artist's Workshop and taught a 2 1/2 day class there this past year.
She founded the Children's Art Show at
Effingham, IL.
This past year she was featured on a segment of the Heartland Highways
Show on RFD TV.

Dixie's Watercolor Yupo workshop will
be held Thurs., Feb. 26th, 9am-4pm at Wildwoods Gallery & Framing
in
downtown Olney. Students will complete 4 or more pieces of artwork
during this class.
Subjects will be an abstract, a floral, a landscape and a mono-chromatic
painting. Yupo paper will be provided.
Workshop fee is $100, lunch included. Registration and payment deadline is
Feb. 19, 2009.

Workshop supply list:
1. 8 to 10 Small spray bottles (pump top, travel size)2. hair dryer
3. #10 round watercolor brush
4. masking tape
5. water pan, palette
6. paper towels
7. 4 or 5 backer boards 24"x26" to secure
Yupo paper
to with masking tape.
Students won't be able to remove
their work from their board until it dries. Reusable masonite boards
will be available at $5.99 ea and must be ordered when registering for
class.

Indigo blue (any deep blue)
Allizarin Crimson
Orange (deep)
Cadium Yellow
Leaf Green (any light green)
