The White Squirrel Shop of Olney, Illinois

Discovery of white squirrels in the Olney area more than 100 years ago spawned local
legends and continuing interest.  The albino population has flourished with the aid of vigilant
 individuals and organizations.  Strict regulations are enforced by the City of Olney that give
right-of-way to squirrels and prohibit common threats to their safety.  The popular albino
squirrels have received nurturing encouragement and protection ever since their
 discovery around 1902.   Approximately 27 years before that time in 1875 the building
which now is home to The White Squirrel Shop and Wildwoods Gallery and Framing was
built on the Main Street of Olney, IL.  It then housed Bower's Drug Store and the intricate
hand laid mosaic tile floor and tin ceiling are stilled enjoyed today. 

One hundred and thirty two years of history and charm surround the largest collection
of White Squirrel collectibles and gifts to be found in Olney, Illinois.
